We’re excited to announce the release of Spark-ED Version 5.4.0, packed with significant improvements, new features, and system optimizations designed to enhance user experience, security, and school operations. This update strengthens Spark-ED’s position as a reliable, future-ready school management solution for modern educational institutions.
What’s New in Version 5.4.0
1. Upgraded Laravel & Vue.js Versions
Spark-ED is now running on the latest versions of Laravel and Vue.js, ensuring better performance, security, and long-term scalability. These updates also make the platform more compatible with modern web standards and future enhancements.
2. Student Custom Attendance Type
Schools can now define custom attendance types beyond the standard “Present” and “Absent” options. This allows for better tracking of student participation, including categories like “Late,” “Medical Leave,” or “Online Attendance.”
3. Improved Exam Schedule Layout
The exam scheduling interface has been redesigned for clarity and ease of use. Timetables are now more organized, making it easier for teachers and administrators to plan and communicate exam schedules effectively.
4. Enhanced Exam Marks Locking
We’ve improved the mark locking mechanism, ensuring that once marks are finalized, unauthorized modifications are prevented. This feature supports better data integrity and accountability in academic evaluation.
5. Competency-Based Evaluation
Version 5.4.0 introduces Competency-Based Evaluation, allowing schools to assess students on skills and competencies rather than just grades. This feature supports modern education frameworks and outcome-based learning.
6. New Online Enquiry Module
Schools can now receive and manage enquiries online through a dedicated module. This streamlines the admission pipeline — from initial interest to registration — all within Spark-ED.
7. Website News, Events, and Announcements Summary
Spark-ED websites can now automatically display summaries of News, Events, and Announcements, ensuring the school community stays informed with the latest updates.
8. Vehicle Fuel Record Enhancement
The Vehicle Fuel Record module has been improved for better tracking and reporting of fuel usage. Schools with transportation services can now monitor efficiency and reduce costs more effectively.
9. Improved Registration with Verification
The student registration process now includes verification steps, reducing data entry errors and ensuring accurate information collection from the start.
10. Mandatory Password Change Option
Administrators can now enforce password changes for users, strengthening system security and compliance with institutional IT policies.
Why This Update Matters
This release reflects our continuous commitment to making Spark-ED faster, smarter, and more adaptable to real-world school operations. Whether it’s improving user experience, ensuring security, or supporting new education standards, Version 5.4.0 delivers meaningful upgrades for every stakeholder — from administrators to teachers, parents, and students.
